We love June in London because there’s no better place to be for art and antiques collectors and enthusiasts.
The month kicks off with Art Antiques London from 12-18 June at the Albert Memorial and Kensington Gardens. Run by Haughton International Fairs, this brings together 60 leading international dealers. Our favourite item is exhibited by Altea Maps and Charts, based at Saint George Street, London. This antique map dealer brings us this rare 1935 poster map of the London Underground.
Art Antiques 2015 also features some great lectures, including a conversation between Dame Rosalind Savill and the 9th Duke of Wellington, during a week that brings us the 200 year anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
Then we intend to move onto Olympia International Art and Antiques Fair 2015, running from 18-28 June. For a truly international flavour, diversity, quality, a great venue and possibly even a movie star or two, Olympia is a must-visit. With items on sale from tens of £’s up to £1million, you can be sure it will have something to suit all budgets. We especially love the Andreas Christensen walnut-cased, PH piano exhibited by Hatchwell Antiques of London.
Last but not least, we have Masterpiece 2015 taking place from 25 June-1 July at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. This event will show museum-quality works from over 150 leading galleries worldwide. One of our favourite collections will be exhibited by Butchoff Antiques from Kensington Church Street in London, who specialise in a range of 18th and 19th Century English and Continental items including mirrors, paintings and lighting. This antiques dealer is a family-run business founded almost 50 years ago and was also one of the founding members of LAPADA. One of their Masterpiece exhibits will be this magnificent centre table and specimen marble top.
